Description: Name: Approximate Regulated AreaFull Name: ApproximateRegulatedArea2020Abstract: This layer defines the limit for areas regulated under Ontario Regulation 177/06 - North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority: Development, Interference with Wetlands and Alterations to Shorelines and Watercourses, which came into effect May 4, 2006. The Development, Interference with Wetlands and Alterations to Shorelines and Watercourses Regulation affects what and where a Conservation Authority can regulate. Specifically, this regulation allows Conservation Authorities to: 1) Prohibit, regulate or provide permission for straightening, changing, diverting or interfering in any way with the existing channel of a river, creek, stream, watercourse or changing or interfering with a wetland. 2) Prohibit, regulate or provide permission for development if the control of flooding, erosion, dynamic beaches, pollution or the conservation of land may be affected by the development. IMPORTANT NOTE: The text of Ontario Regulation 177/06 supersedes the mapping as represented by this data layer. In the event of a conflict a site-specific determination may be made by NBMCA staff.Feature Type: PolygonLocation: ApproximateRegulatedArea2020Geographic

To do this, a 15 meter Regulated Area has been created on the 100 year Regulatory Floodplain Mapping that is within the NBMCA Area of Jurisdiction. The area subject to this update is along the 100 Year Regulatory Floodplain on the Mattawa River from Boom Creek to the Main Street Bridge, as well as the 100 Year Regulatory Floodplain of the Mattawa River found on 6th Street and Louis Street to Highway 17.January - March 2020 – Major Update Based on Updated Wetland Mapping Throughout The WatershedImportant Note: In 2019 NBMCA undertook the Wetland Delineation project to update the wetland layer as part of the Large Scale Hydrology project. The Wetland Delineation was completed by Sumac Geomatics in 2018 and has provided NBMCA with an improved spatial representation of wetlands within the watershed. This was completed by certified wetland evaluators under the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (Northern Ontario). This project identifies wetlands on the ground that were not mapped in NBMCA’s wetland information layer. As such an update was completed to include the unmapped wetlands. Data resources used to create the wetland polygon include orthorectified imagery, stereo imagery, digital terrain models and large scale hydrology data. These wetlands were always regulated; however by completing the update, NBMCA’s data is now more thorough and transparent. This ARA update included the refinement of a 30 meter regulated area adjacent to all mapped non-PSW and unevaluated wetlands that are greater than 0.5ha in area. This ARA update also included the refinement of a 120 meter regulated area adjacent to all recorded Provincially Significant Wetlands. This ARA update also included an update to the Duchesnay Creek Wetland Complex. This wetland complex was considered a non-PSW in the Approximate Regulated Area mapping not as a Provincially Significant Wetland. After discussion with the local Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, it was decided that this would be considered a PSW and a 120 meter buffer was created using the Land Information Ontario wetland data and added to the Approximate Regulated Area.Contact: North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority15 Janey AvenueNorth Bay, ON P1C 1N1705-474-5420 (T)705-474-9397 (F)-474-5420 (T)nbmca@nbmca.cawww.nbmca.caCopyright © 2020 North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA).
